Instructional Leader Tools

Resources and guidance for instructional leaders to support teachers implementing The Writing Academy as designed. Monitor fidelity, coach effectively, and provide targeted support for every teacher on your campus.
Purpose
These tools give campus instructional leaders everything they need to monitor, support, and coach teachers using The Writing Academy Supplemental Support System, so that the daily GRADUATE Infinity Learning Cycle and all supporting frameworks are implemented with fidelity.
Rationale
When instructional leaders know exactly what to look for in a classroom, which questions to ask students, and how to provide targeted feedback, teachers receive the specific coaching they need to strengthen implementation and accelerate student growth in writing.
How to Use These Tools
Start with the Walkthrough Checklist to learn what strong implementation looks like. Use the Observation Tool during classroom visits. Follow up with the Coaching and Feedback Frames. Use the Struggling Teacher Support Plan for teachers who need intensive help.
Implementation at a Glance

The Writing Academy is a supplemental Reading Language Arts support with a writing focus for Grades 3 through 5. Each grade contains a Prepare cluster plus eight instructional clusters, each with four modules (one module per week). Every module follows the GRADUATE Infinity Learning Cycle distributed across five days: Day 1 Gather and Reveal, Day 2 Attempt, Day 3 Discuss and Use, Day 4 Award and Target, Day 5 Educate and Explain. Teachers use the Triplet (Standards Slide Deck, Teacher Script, and Tracking Sheet) alongside the Student Interactive Workbook and the Teacher Lesson Plan Guide.
